The JES at Project Ceannt

Mr Revill and his 5th-year art students were invited by Edward Capital and BDP architects to have their voices heard and share their vision as part of a design consultation for Project Ceannt.

Project Ceannt is an urban regeneration project on 8.2 acres of land surrounding Ceannt station in Galway city. The project proposes retail, leisure, accommodation and public spaces. www.projectceannt.com

Our students put forward ideas they felt important for a future Galway such as free public places to hang out and play with an emphasis on wellbeing and mental health. Cultural spaces for art and music, a concert hall, music venues. Creative studio spaces. A spiritual space for reflection. A sensory garden with different smelling plants and textures. Our students stressed the importance of environmentally friendly building and utilising smart building technology to recycle water and use solar power.

Impressed by the input and ideas put forward at the consultation the students have kindly been invited to a visit day to BDP architectural offices in Dublin in the New Year.
