T
he Jes Mountaineering Club climbed Sliabh Eilbhe in The Burren on Sunday 1st October. The group of 9 students was led by Ms. Donoghue and Mr. Molloy. It started out a rainy day but luckily cleared up and stayed dry for most of our walk. The route followed the green roads around the hills of Sliabh Eilbhe with views along the way of the Cahir valley and the Burren karst limestone landscape.
We saw many interesting archaeological and geographical features including a holy well, ring forts, a famine relief work inscription, and the entrance to Poll na gColm underground cave.
A very enjoyable day was had by all in the beautiful Burren countryside!
