oláiste Iognáid debaters swept the boards at the Connacht Junior Debating Final on Saturday 1st October beating 64 speakers from around Connacht. The Jes had three teams in the Final (Harry Redfern, Stephen Hynes, Liam Carton, Fionn Ryan, Amy O’Gorman and Ruby Lynch) with Harry Redfern deemed best speaker in Connacht as well as best speaker in the final. The Jes also qualified 12 speakers for the National Final and four speakers (Liam Carton, Fionn Ryan, Amy O’Gorman and Ruby Lynch) to represent Ireland in the Cambridge International Competition for Young Debaters. The event was chaired by Senator AliceMary Higgins.
Clara O’Gorman was awarded best First Year Speaker in Connacht.
