At the heart of Jesuit education is the vision of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, a sixteenth century soldier turned pilgrim and mystic, and author of the Spiritual Exercises. From the Spiritual Exercises, the Society of Jesus draws its vision of education: to find God in all things and Christ as the model for human life. My role, in collaboration with the Trustees, Board of Management, staff, and parents, is to ensure this vision becomes fully realised in the lives of our students and in the everyday experiences and encounters of College community through teaching and learning, extra-curricular activities, retreats, and Social Outreach programmes. This vision is concretely manifested in the generosity of so many staff, students and parents.
How would we want to answer the question, ‘What kind of person would the college wish to form by the time he or she is eighteen?’ The answer we hope is that our student is a man or woman for others, intellectually competent, a person of conscience, and compassionate towards those in need. That is the vision made concrete.
