n Thursday, 26th November, 2014, Coláiste Iognáid secured victory in the Connacht Senior B Hockey League, defeating Athlone Community College on a scoreline of 3 goals to 2.Despite ACC’s initial dominance, the Jes ladies began to pressure and responded to conceding a goal with skill and determination. However in the second half the Jes powered their way back scoring three goals.
Grace Kavanagh, Sarah Thompson and Eleanor O Byrne proved their worth by claiming the goals which secured victory for the Jes ladies.
From goal to defence, from midfield to forwards, the strong panel of girls played as a team and confidently claimed victory for the Jes.
The Ward trophy was incidentally the very first hockey trophy won by the Jes way back in 1989.
