CHRISTMAS SURVIVES FOR ANOTHER YEAR! THE CHRISTMAS DEBATE SAW THE MOTION TO GET RID OF CHRISTMAS DEFEATED BY 146 VOTES TO 12.

he Annual Christmas Debate 2015 saw the opposition team of Jack Counihan, Conor O’Sullivan, Grace O’Fegan, Ross Gorey and Amy O’Gorman defeat the motion ‘THW Not Say Merry Christmas to Anyone’ by 146 votes to 12! The proposing team of Tim Keogh, Grace Kiernan, Mr. Sherry, Harry Redfern and Kate Duggan did not look too upset…The competition was adjudicated by ex-pupils Alecs De Burca and Marc O’Connor. Jack Counihan in rampant capitalist mode won best Senior Debater and Harry Redfern with his castigation of Santa Clause’s poor business sense, won Best Junior Debater. Jack Counihan won best pun with ‘the only reason elves might be unhappy is because they are ‘claustraphobic’’;  Mr Sherry had the second-best pun for ‘ Santa’s elves don’t rebel because they have low Elf-Esteem’. Merry Christmas! The packed house raised 150 euro for Galway Simon.
