Senior Girls Gaelic Football

The Girls Senior team have qualified for the knockout stages of the Connacht championship where they will play Swinford of Mayo. The team have won all their away games which included victories over Corr na Mona, Ros Muc and Endas. They were very unlucky not to beat Carraroe and lost to Inverin in exceptionally harsh weather conditions. Training will recommence in the New Year.

First year Gaelic Football 2015/2016

Our current 1st years are on a fantastic run at the moment with 3 wins in 3 games and are top of the league. In the first match we faced the tough test of Colaiste Einde. It was an exhilarating game of football and really tested the metal of all our players. Entering the last quarter and losing by two points we managed to dig deep and win by two points. They showed great character which will stand to them in the future.

Our next day out was away to Carraroe. Although cruising in the first half, we managed to let our lead slip and came under serious pressure in last 15 minutes. Again the team showed great resilience and we took control and finished the game as winners.

Our final game to date was away to Oughterard. From the very first whistle we were relentless and coasted throughout the game.

Our next challengers are unknown at this time but we have now qualified for the latter stages of the league and are hoping for a protracted run in the championship and with a bit of luck we hopefully will be able to contest a final in 2016.

Juvenile Boys Gaelic Football

The Juvenile team are undefeated so far this season with victories over city neighbours the Bish and Endas to their name. The team have improved greatly since the start of the year and are looking to go far in the league and championship campaigns.

Junior Gaelic Football

The Jes Junior Gaelic football team played four competitive matches first term under the joint management of Mr. Silke and Mr. MacDonacha.

They defeated St. Pauls in the league, however, a weakened Jes side went down to Glenamaddy and had two good run outs against The Bish and PCH.

The team is captained this year by Barna’s Jack Grealish and has some fine players on the panel in the likes of Evan Kenny, Dara Golden, Mark O’ Farrell, John Quinn, Fionn Murphy, Jack Power, Niall Rooney, Cillian Cleary, Dara Hanrahan, Niall Hanahoe, Rory O’ Gorman, Conall Hanley and Cian Gilroy.

Senior boys Gaelic Football

Having reached the final of this competition last year the seniors are hoping to go one better this time around. The league campaign began with an epic high scoring win against a much fancied Coláiste Éinde outfit. Coming out on the right side of a 5-17 to 5-9 scoreline put the team in a good position in the group. The team then followed up with a comprehensive win versus Carraroe and thus sealed progress to the next stage.

In the league semi-final Athenry presentation proved a step too far and though leading at the three/quarter mark lost narrowly to a star studded side. The championship begins after Christmas and the lads are determined to put in a big effort.
